In the presence of the HE the Ambassador of Great Britain to Greece, Mr. Matthew Long, a memorandum of cooperation was signed yesterday in Skaramangas between Sub Sea Craft and Skaramangas Shipyards for the development of a maritime innovation center in Greece. At the same time, in the memorandum signed by CEO Ms. Camilla Martin and Vice President and Managing Director Mr. Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, it was agreed that Skaramangas Shipyards will become the chosen manufacturer of the Victa vessel for the Greek and European markets.

The VICTA vessel is an innovative platform designed for Special Forces operations in coastal areas. It has the ability to move at high speed up to 40 knots and cover distances up to 250 nautical miles. It can also move under the surface of the water for distances up to 30 miles and also has Stealth technology.

Its multiple capabilities and automatic navigation systems allow the VICTA to respond to any difficult mission scenario and safely transport personnel for special operations where needed. Its unique design allows it to conduct operations with precision and with the least possible exposure. Finally, these capabilities can be utilized in both the defense and civil protection fields and protection against asymmetric threats.

The complex production requirements of such an advanced vessel will be developed in collaboration between the two companies in Skaramangas. Strengthening the technological capabilities of the Shipyards through the transfer of know-how is certainly one of the benefits of this agreement. At the same time, through the maritime innovation center, there will be cooperation for the development of autonomous and unmanned vessels for defense use. These synergies will maximize the benefits for the Greek defense industry. At the same time, the establishment of such a center in Greece, in addition to the jobs it will create, will also serve as a gateway for European research funds. The innovation center will strengthen domestic capabilities by offering Greek researchers and engineers experience to develop and maintain the upcoming generations of such platforms. It will also strengthen the consolidation of the joint declaration on bilateral Greek-British cooperation signed last year, which provides for the development of defense cooperation.

Finally, the innovation center will be able to participate in the application for European funds and also submit proposals to the Greek Center for Defense Innovation, which was recently established by the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Dendias.

After the signing, Ms. Camilla Martin stated: “The collaboration with Skaramangas Shipyards is a defining point for Sub Sea Craft’s presence in Greece. Skaramangas Shipyards is the ideal base for significant production and maintenance of such vessels, while the innovation center will help upgrade the operational capability of the Hellenic Navy and its allies.

We are excited to contribute to the modernization goals of Greek defense and look forward to growing cooperation with Skaramangas Shipyards.”

Mr. Miltiadis Varvitsiotis stated that: "The creation of the maritime innovation center responds to the vision of George Prokopios to make Skaramangas Shipyards not only productive but also technologically advanced. This collaboration will be able to open paths for us towards the technologies of autonomous unmanned vessels that are so needed on the modern battlefield. With this collaboration, we are leveraging and expanding our capabilities in the construction and servicing of submarines."
