MED MARINE has launched a new RAstar 2800 Terminal–Escort Tug, designed to deliver high capability, refined handling, and exceptional operational strength. Rising from the skilled hands of EREGLI SHIPYARD at the end of November, the vessel brings together a confident balance of power and precision—crafted for operators seeking dependable performance in the world’s most demanding terminals.
Designed as a 28-metre multi-purpose escort tug, the MED-A2800 delivers an impressive 85 tonnes of Bollard Pull, enabling exceptional authority in ship handling, escort duties, coastal towage, pushing, and mooring operations. Fully equipped to meet Class FIFI-1 requirements, the tug expands its mission profile with advanced firefighting capability.
Its proven RAstar 2800 hull form is paired with both a forward and aft winch as well as an aft towing hook, ensuring seamless performance across terminal and escort operations. Power comes from a high-efficiency Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) propulsion system, driven by two main diesel engines and Z-drive units with fixed-pitch propellers housed in optimized nozzles—delivering not only high bollard pull but exceptional manoeuvrability.
Constructed in durable welded steel, the vessel features a robust internal layout with watertight bulkheads forming dedicated zones for accommodation, fresh water tanks, the engine room, diesel oil storage, the Z-drive compartment, and aft peak tanks, ensuring safety and structural integrity throughout its service life.
