The ship is a tanker or oil ship owned by PT Waruna Nusa Sentara Shipyard.
"There was a boat fire that was doing maintenance or docking at the shipyard.
The location is 1-2 kilometers from the Belawan Class I Navigation District office," said Director of the Sea and Coast Guard Unit at the Ministry of Transportation Ahmad on Monday, May 11, 2020.
Ahmad said the blackout process continued until late afternoon with six units of cars belonging to the Belawan Fire Department.
Efforts to tame this fire were also assisted by the Belawan Port Authority, Belawan Main Syahbandar, and Belawan Pelindo I.
While from the sea side, the patrol boat KPLP KN 5205 is conducting a sweep around 200 meters from the location.
In addition to patrol boats, three ships belonging to Pelindo and Waruna also helped conduct checks.
Ahmad added, there is no exact data related to the possibility of casualties from this accident. "The SAR team is checking," he said.
