On Monday, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, received The meeting comes in light of cooperation and partnership relations, and aims to discuss the impact of current geopolitical and environmental challenges on the sustainability of global supply chains. At the beginning of the meeting, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie stressed the importance of joint work and concerted efforts among all active parties in the maritime community to ensure the regularity of navigation through the various shipping lanes and to achieve sustainability for global supply chains.
General Rabie expressed his aspiration and readiness to strengthen partnership relations with the Panama Canal and to benefit from the common characteristics and interests that unite the two sides in order to achieve greater convergence and integration through the exchange of experiences and cooperation in new areas of work.
The head of the authority explained that crisis management has become an integral part of the authority’s institutional work strategies in light of the succession of different challenges regionally and internationally and their direct impact on global trade passing through the canal.
The head of the authority pointed out that the Suez Canal has succeeded in diversifying its revenues by localizing the manufacturing of various marine units in the authority’s shipyards and companies, and creating a new package of maritime and logistical services to enhance the canal’s position and competitiveness.
For his part, Ambassador Ricardo Isazá, the Panamanian Ambassador in Cairo, expressed his pride and appreciation for the long-standing cooperative relations with the Suez Canal, stressing his country’s keenness to enhance future cooperation and exchange experiences in the fields of marketing, training, information exchange, and others.
The Panamanian Ambassador in Cairo also praised the Egyptian diplomatic and governmental efforts made to support joint cooperation relations between the Suez Canal and the Panama Canal, expressing his confidence that the coming period will witness more fruitful and constructive cooperation in light of the two countries’ interest in deepening cooperation ties.
