Qatar, represented by the Qatar Mission to the IMO, took part in the 12th Session of the International Maritime Organization's Implementation of IMO Instruments Sub-Committee (III 12), held at the IMO in London from July 20 to July 24, 2026.
The III 12 focused on flag, port, and coastal state enforcement, marine casualty analysis, and audit scheme results. It also approved several reports regarding Port Reception Facilities, analysis of consolidated audits summary reports, and lessons learnt from casualties. The Sub-Committee also undertook the periodic review of Survey Guidelines under the Harmonized System of Survey and Certification (HSSC), 2025, and Procedures for Port State Control.
Qatar actively participates in IMO’s technical meetings as part of its unwavering support for developing and implementing international maritime conventions and instruments and enhancing Member States’ compliance with maritime safety and security requirements and marine life protection, aiming for highest safety and efficiency in maritime industry.
