MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. has suspended new cargo bookings to and from Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk following a drone attack on the container ship MSC ULSAN III while it was sailing toward the port.
According to Bloomberg, the suspension took effect immediately, with MSC saying it was monitoring the security situation in the region. The company has not disclosed when the attack occurred, who was responsible or whether the vessel sustained damage.
MSC has advised customers to contact its Russian agency to arrange alternative logistics solutions for import and export cargo. Regular weekly services through Novorossiysk are expected to resume once security conditions allow.
The decision comes amid growing security risks for commercial shipping in the Black Sea, where attacks involving drones have increasingly disrupted maritime operations.
MSC continues to serve other Russian ports, including St. Petersburg, while its Novorossiysk operations remain suspended.
