Aqaba Container Terminal announces the appointment of Jose Rueda as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Harald Nijhof. The transition comes as the terminal continues efforts to strengthen its position as a gateway for the Levant region and international logistics networks.
Rueda brings decades of experience in the shipping, port management, and logistics sectors, with professional experience spanning Spain, Mexico, Turkey, and Costa Rica. During his career, he has overseen large-scale terminal operations and managed complex supply chain activities.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from EAE Business School, in addition to degrees in Nautical Sciences and Maritime Transportation from Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Rueda also recently completes executive education in Public Engagement at University of Oxford.
Prior to joining ACT, Rueda serves as Managing Director of APM Terminals Moin in Costa Rica, where he manages the country’s main export gateway and oversees throughput growth. His management approach includes the application of Lean methodologies and operational efficiency frameworks focused on safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Rueda is also known for his work in government relations and stakeholder engagement, including negotiating concession agreements and developing partnerships across multiple markets.
According to ACT, the appointment is expected to support the terminal’s ongoing focus on operational performance and innovation as it seeks to expand its services and reinforce its role as a regional trade hub serving Jordan and neighboring markets.
