SmartSea, powered by SITA, a global leader in aviation technology, has partnered with Dubai-based Digital Energy AI to demonstrate how offshore energy logistics can operate with the same precision, safety, and transparency as the aviation industry.
At Gastech 2025 in Milan, the two companies will reveal how standardised data, automation, and AI, already proven in aviation, can be applied across rig and marine supply chain operations in oil and gas. Their joint Spotlight Session, What if oil & gas logistics operated with the precision, safety, and transparency of the aviation industry?, takes place on Thursday 11 September at 10:10 am.
The session will explore how AI-enabled logistics and data harmonisation can:
- Reduce inefficiencies and operational delays
- Break down silos across teams and assets
- Unlock safer, smarter workflows
- Integrate seamlessly with sector-specific safety cultures, operational procedures, and regulations
This approach, referred to as ‘runway logic’, brings aviation’s disciplined, data-driven decision-making to offshore operations, creating more reliable, agile, and transparent logistics.

Throughout the event, there will also be a series of product demonstrations at their stand, located at Stand: AI – 03B in the AI::Energy Zone, including:
- FacePod: An AI-assisted workforce mobility solution inspired by SITA’s SmartPath. FacePod delivers frictionless, secure, and personalised travel, from home to airport, heliport, and offshore rig, using biometric verification at every touchpoint. With intermodal data integration and concierge-style intelligence, it ensures every crew journey is efficient, tailored, and stress-free, boosting operational uptime and workforce satisfaction.
- AI-powered HSE solution: A next-generation safety and risk management platform. From real-time observations and streamlined risk assessments to AI-driven photo analysis identifying hazards and trends, this solution transforms data into proactive safety actions. Advanced reporting and work control will follow, creating a single intelligent hub for compliance, visibility, and safer operations, reducing manual effort, delivering smarter insights, and strengthening the safety culture.
Kris Vedat, CEO of SmartSea, says: “Aviation has long mastered seamless, safe, and efficient operations. Offshore energy can achieve the same by applying the right blend of standardisation, automation, and AI to its complex logistics ecosystem.”

Carsten Sonne-Schmidt, Managing Partner at Digital Energy AI, added:“The offshore sector generates vast amounts of data but often struggles to use it effectively. By adopting a unified, aviation-inspired model, we can with AI turn that data into actionable intelligence, improving safety, reducing costs, and transforming operational performance.”
