Trans Misr Terminal (TMT) has announced the launch of its Railway Container Station (RCS), a significant development that integrates the terminal directly into Egypt's railway network. This milestone enhances the terminal's connectivity and aligns with Egypt's sustainability goals by advancing environmentally friendly railway transport.
The inaugural train journey between October Dry Port (ODP) and TMT transported cargo for CMA CGM, illustrating the seamless operational link between these crucial logistics hubs. This new railway connection not only streamlines import and export processes but also reduces reliance on road transport, which is a step forward in decreasing logistical costs and environmental impact.
A notable aspect of this launch was the transportation of a significant export order for Future Pipe Industries, which consisted of 25 high-cube containers destined for Algiers. This underscores October Dry Port's critical role in facilitating global trade and enhancing Alexandria's status as a key maritime gateway.
The direct rail link provided by TMT offers streamlined, efficient logistics solutions, with the benefits of reduced carbon emissions, lower fuel consumption, and alleviated road congestion. These environmental advantages highlight the project's contribution to a greener logistics sector.
This initiative, supported by a collaboration between TMT, ODP, and CMA CGM, marks a significant achievement in Egypt's efforts to enhance logistical efficiencies and promote sustainable transport solutions within the shipping and logistics industry.
