Accelleron has signed its second Turbo UptimeCare agreement with Malaysia-based engine dealer SP Energy to support its Malaysian power generation customers. The new eight-year contract means that SP Energy’s entire sold and serviced engine fleet – representing 90% of all Caterpillar Energy Solutions (CES) engines in Malaysia – is now covered by Turbo UptimeCare.
The new contract covers 22 Accelleron TPS-H turbochargers. The main benefit for SP Energy customers, which include biogas power generation utilities and manufacturers, will be access to Accelleron’s wide pool of exchange units, dramatically reducing downtime related to turbocharger service.
SP Energy managing director Syed H. Kebir said: “Offering an increased service level to customers can be instrumental in winning and retaining customers. The key advantage of Turbo UptimeCare is having replacement turbochargers available at the customer’s site prior to work being done. This eliminates any additional downtime on the turbocharger service.”
Turbo UptimeCare agreements are designed to meet the high reliability demanded by customers using turbocharged high-speed engines for power generation. The fact that no investment in exchange units is required provides predictable costs. Administration is also reduced compared to on-call orders or maintenance management arrangements, while customers can be assured that service is performed according to OEM recommendations by a reliable service partner.
Accelleron Head of Service Sales South East Asia Hendrix Yap said: “This new agreement, covering Accelleron’s most advanced high-speed turbocharger range, builds on more than five years of close cooperation with SP Energy. For SP Energy customers selling energy to the national grid or powering industrial processes, uptime is critical. With Turbo UptimeCare they can have peace of mind that maximal uptime is secured.”
