Sallaum Lines, a prominent international ocean transportion company, and Marine Conservation Institute, a leading non-profit organization committed to ocean conservation, proudly announce their collaboration with Ocean Revolution Moçambique to provide a patrol boat for the Inhambane Bay Community Conservation Network. This strategic partnership aims to enhance local marine conservation efforts, support sustainable practices, and empower the Inhambane Bay communities in Mozambique.

Our partnership with Marine Conservation Institute and Ocean Revolution Moçambique for the Inhambane Bay Community Conservation Network emphasizes our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water. By providing a patrol boat, we are actively contributing to the protection of vital marine ecosystems and empowering local communities in Mozambique to take an active role in conservation.

The vessel secured through this partnership will support ecological monitoring and research within the Inhambane Bay Community Conservation Network as well as enforcement of the network’s twelve community-managed marine protected areas. The Community Conservation Network protects mangroves, seagrass beds, and other estuary and wetland spaces throughout the bay that provide breeding, nursery, and foraging areas for fish, and threatened and endangered species, including dugongs, dolphins, and sea turtles.
“The acquisition of this vessel means a lot to Ocean Revolution Moçambique as well as to all the communities in Inhambane Bay with whom we work,” said Antonio de Sacramento Cabral, Program Director of Ocean Revolution Moçambique. “We would like to take advantage of this opportunity to improve our conservation work and strengthen our relationship with our partners. I would like to thank Sallaum Lines and Marine Conservation Institute for their great support in this journey; we are committed to making good use of the vessel.”
Marine Conservation Institute has collaborated with Ocean Revolution Moçambique through its Blue Sparks program since 2019, supporting community-led marine conservation efforts within Inhambane Bay.
