ADNOC Logistics and Services has taken delivery of the first of four LNG dual-fuel VLCCs to be delivered by Hanwha Ocean in 2023 (formerly known as Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering)
ADNOC Logistics and Services (ADNOC L&S) is a global energy maritime logistics public-listed company, part of ADNOC, the oil and gas company wholly owned by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Hafeet is the first of four LNG dual-fuel engined VLCCs, which form part of ADNOC L&S commitment of approximately US$2Bn to building more environmentally efficient vessels and contributes to the reduction of owned fleet carbon intensity of more than 20% since 2018.
ADNOC L&S chief executive Captain Abdulkareem Al Masabi said, “The addition of Hafeet, the first of four newbuild VLCCs to our expanding ADNOC L&S fleet, will increase our energy transport capacity in line with our ambitious growth strategy,” he said.
He added, “Our strategic investment in new, environmentally efficient vessels reinforces our commitment to more sustainable shipping and to decreasing the carbon intensity of our operations, as we continue to work towards meeting the International Maritime Organization’s decarbonisation targets of halving annual greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping by 2050.”
ADNOC L&S’ second newbuild VLCC will be delivered later this month, with the third and fourth vessels scheduled for delivery in Q3 and Q4 2023 respectively.
The vessels are expected to trade on the spot market.
