The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, met with the Board of Directors of the Port of Tripoli, in his first participation in a board meeting since its formation, to follow up on the port’s operations and projects, its strategic plan, and its role at the national and regional levels.
During the meeting, Board Chairman Engineer Iskandar Bendali, along with Vice Chair Sarah El-Sharif, board members, and Port Director Dr. Ahmad Tamer, presented an overview of the port’s operational and financial performance, as well as the positive indicators recorded in the second quarter, particularly regarding container and vessel traffic, ongoing projects, and future priorities.
The meeting discussed the development and expansion of the container terminal, the dredging project, cooperation with the Special Economic Zone, the railway, digital transformation, the development of infrastructure, and enhancing operational readiness.
Bendali emphasized that the minister’s presence provides support for the port’s progress and projects, while Rasamny praised the efforts made, stressing the importance of investing in the port’s strategic location, developing its capabilities and services, and opening broader prospects for growth and investment.
Priorities include transforming the Port of Tripoli and its projects and partnerships into economic activity, investment, and sustainable growth opportunities, while strengthening its position as Lebanon’s maritime gateway to the Eastern Mediterranean and as an effective logistics hub for regional and international connectivity.
