On July 28, the Port of Tripoli welcomed a high-level delegation from the Embassy of Greece in Lebanon, led by Her Excellency Ambassador Despina Koukoulopoulou. The delegation included Ms. Christina Argiropoulou, First Counsellor and Head of Economic and Commercial Affairs, along with members of the embassy staff.
The delegation was received by Mr. Iskandar Bendaly, Chairman of the Port of Tripoli’s Board of Directors, who presented the port’s long-term strategic vision and its roadmap to becoming a key logistics hub in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Discussions focused on the Port of Tripoli’s growing role as a gateway to the Levant and its potential to serve as a strategic link in emerging trade corridors connecting Asia and Europe. The meeting also provided an opportunity to highlight the port’s infrastructure, development plans, and future investment opportunities.
Recognizing Greece’s prominent position in the global maritime sector, the Port of Tripoli expressed its interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation through the exchange of expertise and technical support. The two sides also explored the possibility of establishing a cooperation and twinning agreement with the Port of Piraeus.
The discussions further underscored the importance of advancing key reforms to enhance Lebanon’s investment climate, unlock the country’s economic potential, and support sustainable growth through stronger regional and international partnerships.
