The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of Maersk's AE15 Gemini Service to Jeddah Islamic Port, further strengthening the competitiveness of Saudi ports within the global maritime network, supporting the seamless movement of international trade, and enhancing operational efficiency.
The new service connects Jeddah Islamic Port with a number of key regional and international ports, including Qingdao Port, Gwangyang Port, Ningbo Port, Tanjung Pelepas Port, Port Said Port, Damietta Port in Egypt, Colombo Port, and the Port of Singapore, with a vessel capacity of up to 19,000 TEUs.
The service forms part of Mawani's ongoing efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Jeddah Islamic Port on the global maritime map, support national exports, and enable Saudi companies to access new international markets, contributing to the Kingdom's performance in global logistics indices.
The new service will also enhance operational efficiency at the port and further strengthen its competitive advantage, supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to develop the transport and logistics sector while reinforcing the Kingdom's position as a regional and global logistics hub and a key gateway for international trade.
Jeddah Islamic Port is one of the Kingdom's most strategically important ports on the Red Sea, serving as a vital gateway connecting Saudi Arabia with global markets. The port features advanced infrastructure and integrated logistics facilities that support international trade and global supply chains.
