The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced the addition of Maersk’s shipping service (Maersk - MECL) to Jeddah Islamic Port, enhancing the port’s maritime connectivity, expanding its service network with regional and global ports, and supporting the smooth flow of trade and supply chains.
The new shipping service connects Jeddah Islamic Port with Charleston, Savannah, Houston, Norfolk, and Newark in the United States; Tangier in the Kingdom of Morocco; Salalah in the Sultanate of Oman; and Mundra, Pipavav, and Nhava Sheva in the Republic of India, with a capacity of up to 7,000 TEUs.
The addition of this service is part of Mawani’s efforts to strengthen Jeddah Islamic Port’s competitiveness, enhance maritime links with global markets, and provide more efficient shipping services that support national exports and improve supply chain efficiency.
Jeddah Islamic Port is a key logistics hub on the Red Sea, continuing to expand its maritime network in support of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy objectives and Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub.
