The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of Gulftainer Lines’ Intra Gulf Service (IGS) to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, further strengthening the competitiveness of Saudi ports on the global maritime transport map, supporting the seamless flow of international trade, and enhancing operational efficiency.
The new shipping service connects King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam with key regional ports, including Sharjah Port and Umm Qasr Port, with a nominal capacity of up to 550 TEUs.
The addition aligns with Mawani’s ongoing efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s standing in global performance indicators, support the growth of national exports, and advance the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) by reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub connecting the three continents.
It is worth noting that King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam plays a pivotal role in connecting the Kingdom with global economies. The port features advanced infrastructure and integrated logistics facilities that attract leading international companies. It includes 43 fully equipped berths and offers a handling capacity of up to 105 million tons of cargo and containers.
