Georgia and Cyprus have agreed to establish a joint maritime committee, the Ministry of Economy of Georgia reports.
In order to enhance cooperation between Georgia and Cyprus in the maritime field, Head of the Georgian Maritime Transport Agency Tamar Ioseliani held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Shipping of Cyprus Vassilios Demetriades earlier today.
Ioseliani also met with members of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and the shipowner company Columbia Ship Management, which is one of the largest companies employing Georgian sailors.
The parties discussed issues overcome during the coronavirus pandemic in the maritime field and noted the positive results achieved by Georgia in the direction of rotation and vaccination of Georgian sailors.
The Ministry of Economy of Georgia noted that the Georgian side is interested in sharing the experience of Cyprus in establishing a maritime cluster and considering deepening relations in the field of maritime education, research, and innovation.
