The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported a maritime security incident in the Strait of Hormuz involving a commercial tanker.
According to UKMTO, military authorities confirmed that the tanker was struck by an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) while conducting an outbound transit through the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel sustained minor damage, while all crew members have been reported safe and accounted for.
No environmental pollution or oil spill has been reported as a result of the incident.
UKMTO has urged vessels operating in the area to exercise heightened caution while transiting the Strait of Hormuz and to report any suspicious activity immediately to UKMTO and the relevant authorities.
The incident underscores the continued security risks facing commercial shipping in one of the world's most strategically important maritime chokepoints.
