The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported a maritime security incident approximately 50 nautical miles south of Aden, Yemen.
According to the advisory, a tanker transiting eastbound through the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC) was approached by six small boats from its starboard side. One of the boats closed to within five cables, prompting the Armed Security Team (AST) on board the tanker to fire warning shots.
The remaining five boats maintained a distance of approximately one nautical mile from the vessel.
The situation remains under monitoring, and no injuries or damage have been reported. UKMTO has advised vessels operating in the area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate maritime authorities.
