The CO2 tanker Embla allided with the center wall of a Brunsbüttel lock in the Kiel Canal, Germany, reportedly causing minor damage to the lock wall. The incident occurred on 5 May while the vessel was sailing from Kiel to Hamburg. Embla allided with a wall on the new southern lock in Brunsbüttel as it was traversing the Kiel Canal.
The lock wall sustained minor damage, while the vessel itself suffered only superficial paint scrapes.
Fortunately, the incident resulted in no injuries, pollution, or water ingress. The Brunsbüttel Water Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
