Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Ltd. has agreed to acquire two newly built chemical/oil tankers, Golden Gerbera and Golden Osmanthus, each with an approximate gross tonnage of 4,981 and scheduled for delivery in 2026, in a deal valued at USD 39.2 million. The acquisition will be financed through a combination of internal resources and external borrowing, with terms concluded on an arm’s length basis and benchmarked against prevailing market rates for similar vessels, as well as the seller’s established market reputation.
The acquisition qualifies as a discloseable transaction under Hong Kong listing rules, as the relevant percentage ratios exceed 5% but remain below 25%, triggering reporting and announcement obligations. By adding these vessels, Seacon is enhancing its fleet capacity in the chemical and oil shipping sector, which could strengthen its competitive position and operational capabilities while signaling continued investment in fleet modernization.
