The Saudi Ports Authority "Mawani" announced that the total volume of cargo handled at the Kingdom's ports during August 2026 reached 15,211,332 tons, representing a 34.38% decrease compared to 23,181,570 tons recorded during the same period in 2025. General cargo amounted to 696,008 tons, liquid bulk cargo reached 5,502,482 tons, dry bulk cargo totaled 2,861,480 tons and Total transit amounted to 21,831 tons. Container throughput decreased by 19.21% to 608,703 TEUs, compared to 753,425 TEUs during the corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, total imported containers decreased by 6.79% to 263,425 TEUs, compared to 282,609 TEUs.
Total exported containers declined by 37.11% to 176,159 TEUs, compared to 280,126 TEUs, while transshipment containers decreased by 38.47% to 117,326 TEUs, compared to 190,690 TEUs last year. In addition, total passengers also decreased by 14.50% to 73,218 passengers, compared to 85,636 passengers in the same period last year. Vessel traffic declined by 29.24% to 1,038 vessels, compared to 1,467 vessels during the corresponding period of 2025.
The number of vehicles decreased by 51.20% to 59,870 vehicles, compared to 122,693 vehicles last year. Meanwhile, the Kingdom's ports received 796,036 cattle heads, marking an increase of 38.21% compared to 575,958 cattle heads during the same period last year. It is worth noting that the ports overseen by the Saudi Ports Authority handled 8,495,338 tons of cargo in July 2026, representing a 42.82% decrease compared to 14,857,296 tons during the corresponding period in 2025. General cargo amounted to 491,411 tons, liquid bulk cargo reached 4,845,259 tons, and dry bulk cargo totaled 3,107,892 tons.
