The Saudi Council of Engineers, represented by its Secretary-General, Musaed bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), represented by its President, Engineer Sulaiman bin Khalid Al-Mazrou, signed a memorandum of understanding today. The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation and integration in engineering and professional fields related to the maritime transport and ports sector, and to activate areas of joint work between the two parties.
Both parties explained that the memorandum comes within the framework of strengthening integration and exchanging expertise, expanding cooperation in developing engineering practices and standards, developing capabilities and competencies, and supporting joint programs and initiatives related to the maritime transport sector.
The memorandum includes cooperation and the exchange of technical expertise in setting standards and minimum technical and engineering requirements for the design and planning of port infrastructure and maritime facilities, in addition to exchanging scientific and practical expertise, conducting joint research and studies, and cooperating in the fields of consulting, research, innovation, and documentation.
The memorandum also includes exploring the development of joint programs and initiatives for the engineering sector and the maritime transport and ports sector, coordinating research initiatives to address development-related challenges, and collaborating in training and e-learning, designing and implementing training programs, and holding joint workshops, scientific meetings, seminars, and conferences.
The memorandum supports leveraging shared expertise and capabilities to develop engineering practices related to ports and maritime facilities.
