In a new step toward expanding regional cooperation in maritime education and training, the Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies (JAMS) has signed a cooperation agreement with Phoenicia Maritime Training Center in Tartous, Syrian Arab Republic, aimed at developing future opportunities across a range of maritime education, training, and related professional services of mutual interest.
The cooperation reflects JAMS’ continued efforts to expand its regional engagement and build professional partnerships with specialized institutions across Arab markets, creating broader opportunities for maritime trainees and professionals to benefit from the expertise and capabilities available through both institutions.
The framework identifies several potential areas of cooperation, including maritime education and training programs, guided sea training, maritime English training and testing, training and consultancy services, as well as academic development, research, and exchange of expertise.
The Syrian market represents an important dimension of this cooperation, with its maritime professionals and evolving education, training, and professional development needs. Through this framework, both institutions will explore opportunities and programs designed to respond to the actual needs of Syrian trainees and organizations in accordance with applicable requirements and professional best practices.
The agreement serves as a framework for future cooperation between the two institutions. Each program or service progressing to implementation will be arranged separately according to its specific technical and regulatory requirements and will proceed only after obtaining the necessary approvals and accreditations from the competent authorities in both the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Syrian Arab Republic.
This structured approach provides a foundation for transforming cooperation opportunities into implementable programs and projects while maintaining the quality, compliance, and governance requirements essential to maritime education and training.
Through this step, the Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies continues to expand its regional cooperation network, explore new markets and opportunities for its services, and develop institutional partnerships built on complementary capabilities, professional expertise, and sustainable value for the maritime sector, trainees, and beneficiary organizations.
