Ozellar Marine has announced a new collaboration with Navarino to support the company’s transition toward a flexible, hybrid connectivity model across its expanding fleet.
The ship management company, which operates approximately 15 vessels, has implemented a combination of Fleet Xpress, Ku-band, and Starlink services. These are centrally managed through Navarino’s Infinity platform, enabling optimized connectivity performance while maintaining full control over onboard IT systems.
“At the core of our setup is the ability to manage everything independently,” said Murtuza Shabbir, Assistant Technical Manager at Ozellar Marine. “With Infinity, we can monitor traffic, adjust policies, and roll out changes across the fleet quickly, without relying on external support.”
The company has leveraged this approach to enhance both operational efficiency and crew welfare. Following feedback from seafarers, Ozellar Marine revised its internet usage policies, introducing structured data allowances tailored to different onboard ranks. The adjustments have improved accessibility while preserving network performance.
Ozellar Marine has also begun evaluating Low Earth Orbit (LEO) services, including Starlink and OneWeb, to complement existing GEO-based connectivity. Initial trials have shown high-speed performance, while further assessments are ongoing regarding regional coverage.
“We see connectivity as a hybrid mix of technologies rather than a single solution,” Shabbir added. “The key is finding the right balance for each vessel and trading pattern.”
Navarino’s Infinity platform has played a central role in enabling this strategy, providing a scalable foundation for managing multi-band and multi-orbit communications. Once deployed, the system allowed for streamlined operations and greater flexibility as requirements evolve.
