The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced the launch of the Terminal Operating System (TOS) by the Saudi Global Ports Company (SGP) at its multipurpose terminals in King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. This system enhances cargo handling efficiency and improves the reliability of services provided to customers.
The new system provides operations teams with accurate operational data that facilitates cargo planning and flow, optimizes equipment allocation, and enables early detection of potential delays. It also reduces reliance on manual processes, thereby improving coordination and expediting responses to evolving operational requirements.
King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam was selected as the pilot site for the new system, which will be gradually rolled out to other multipurpose terminals in the Eastern Province in the coming period. This will enhance the efficiency of supply chains amidst growing trade and industrial activity, aligning with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy to solidify the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub.
The new system contributes to enabling port operations to provide a more consistent and efficient level of service, and supports the continued growth in handling volumes. This enhances the readiness of Saudi ports, increases their global competitiveness, and supports their pivotal role in serving the national economy in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
It is worth noting that King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam plays a vital role in connecting the Kingdom to global economies. It boasts integrated infrastructure and logistics facilities that attract major international companies, and has 43 fully serviced and equipped berths with a handling capacity of up to 105 million tons of goods and containers.
