The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced that MSC has added its new shipping service, Himalaya Express, to both King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and Jubail Commercial Port. This move aims to support national exports and enhance the competitiveness of the two ports regionally and internationally.
The new service connects King Abdulaziz Port and Jubail Commercial Port with 12 regional and international ports, including Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi in the UAE; Hamad Port in Qatar; Nhava Sheva, Mundra, and Vizhinjam in India; Sines in Portugal; Valencia, Barcelona, and Malaga in Spain; and Gioia Tauro and Genoa in Italy. It offers a handling capacity of up to 14,000 TEUs.
This step is part of Mawani’s ongoing efforts to elevate the Kingdom’s position in global performance indicators and improve the operational efficiency of King Abdulaziz Port and Jubail Commercial Port to further support national export activities. It also aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), which seeks to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
It is worth noting that King Abdulaziz Port and Jubail Commercial Port serve as two key pillars of the port system along the Arabian Gulf coast. Their advanced operational capabilities and integrated services play a crucial role in facilitating trade and advancing the Kingdom’s ambition to lead the logistics sector on both a regional and global scale.
