Lila Global has strengthened its position in the regional container shipping market following the addition of two sister feeder containerships to its fleet, expanding its operational capacity and supporting the company’s long-term fleet development strategy.
The vessels, formerly known as Marina L and Theodor, have been delivered to Lila Global and renamed Lila Meppen and Lila Emden, respectively.
Both containerships have a nominal capacity of approximately 1,368 TEU and are geared feeder vessels, providing greater flexibility for deployment across regional services and ports with different infrastructure requirements.
Following their delivery, Lila Meppen has entered service with CMA CGM, while Lila Emden is currently operating under Sea Consortium.
The acquisition further expands Lila Global’s footprint in regional container trades and complements its existing feeder containership Lila Haren, which has a nominal capacity of around 1,200 TEU.
With the addition of the two new vessels, Lila Global now operates three feeder containerships within the 1,200–1,400 TEU segment, benefiting from operational efficiencies through common vessel design, equipment compatibility, maintenance requirements, and streamlined spare-parts planning.
The transaction forms part of Lila Global’s broader strategy to build a diversified fleet across the container, dry bulk, tanker, and multipurpose vessel sectors. In the container segment, the company continues to assess selective investment opportunities that combine attractive asset values, reliable employment prospects, and long-term operational potential.
