InterMaritime Group and Hamburg-based Carsten Rehder have formed a shipmanagement joint venture aimed at expanding their presence across Germany and Northern Europe.
The two companies will take equal ownership in InterMaritime Shipmanagement GmbH & Co KG, which will become the sole shareholder of Victoria Marine Ship Management GmbH & Co KG, Carsten Rehder’s technical shipmanagement business. Victoria Marine will subsequently operate as part of the InterMaritime Group under the InterMaritime Shipmanagement name and branding.
The Hamburg-headquartered business will provide full technical management for a fleet of around 20 vessels, as well as crew management services for a number of additional ships.
The partners said the combination will bring together Carsten Rehder’s local market knowledge and project development experience with InterMaritime’s international network and crewing resources.
The new business will be led jointly by Tim Lissow, currently managing director of Interorient Marine Services (Germany), and Sven Kruse, managing director of Victoria Marine Ship Management.
The move adds to ongoing consolidation across the European third-party shipmanagement sector, where scale, access to qualified crew and the ability to offer broader technical and crewing services are becoming increasingly important competitive factors.
