Gulftainer welcomed Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), to its Iraq Container Terminal (ICT). During the visit, the company provided a comprehensive overview of its operations, highlighting its adherence to IMO standards and its global presence in port and logistics management.
Discussions during the visit focused on the implementation of the Maritime Single Window (MSW) in the region and the adoption of environmental sustainability initiatives. Nic Gray, Managing Director of Gulftainer Iraq, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to MSW compliance and continuous adaptation to environmental regulations. This commitment is reinforced by group-wide training programs aimed at enhancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) awareness.
Accompanying Dominguez were several high-ranking Iraqi officials, including Minister of Transport Razzaq Muhebs Al-Saadawi, Basra Governor Assad Al-Eidani, Iraqi Ambassador to the UK and IMO . Mohammad Jafar Al-Sadr, and Director General of the General Company for Ports of Iraq Dr. Farhan Al-Furtousi.
As part of the visit, Gulftainer’s Regional Business Development Manager, Ibrahim Serhan, presented Dominguez with a commemorative trophy in the presence of Managing Director Nic Gray, marking the strong collaboration between Gulftainer and the IMO.
