DP World has entered into agreements with Nigeria’s Ogun State Government to develop the Gateway Deep Seaport and the adjoining Blue Marine Special Economic Zone, with the two projects expected to attract initial investments exceeding $7 billion. The proposed port at Ogun Waterside is planned with a four-kilometre berth and an 18-metre draft, providing capacity for larger deep-draft vessels and a new gateway intended to ease pressure on the congested Apapa and Tin Can Island ports in Lagos.
The seaport will be integrated with a proposed 10,000-hectare industrial and logistics zone.
Ogun State has secured land for the development and structured the investment framework, while Nigeria’s federal government has committed to supporting regulatory approvals and road, rail and power connectivity.
The 28-km Ogun section of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, scheduled for completion before the end of 2026, is expected to provide a key landside connection for the port and economic zone.
