The Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) and the Institute of Marine Engineers (India) have signed an Institutional Support Agreement to strengthen India’s engagement at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on maritime decarbonisation and sustainability.
The collaboration will provide technical, legal and analytical support for India’s submissions and interventions at the IMO, with a focus on maritime decarbonisation, alternative fuels, GHG reduction measures and lifecycle assessment. It will also facilitate stakeholder coordination to support evidence-based policymaking and reinforce India’s contribution to shaping the global maritime sustainability agenda.
This partnership marks another important step towards advancing India’s maritime energy transition and strengthening India’s leadership in shaping the future of sustainable shipping.
