Compagnie Maritime Nantaise has announced the construction of a new hybrid-powered RoRo vessel dedicated to the maritime transportation of cargo for the European space industry. The vessel will combine conventional mechanical propulsion with wind-assisted propulsion, supporting more efficient and sustainable operations.
The new vessel represents a significant addition to the company’s transport capabilities and will contribute to meeting the growing logistical requirements of the European space sector, particularly through its long-standing partnership with Avio. The vessel is scheduled to enter service by 2030.
Marc-Antoine Girardet, President of the Maritime Division of Sogestran Group, says, "This new vessel marks another important milestone in the development of our activities supporting the European space industry. It has been designed to meet the evolving requirements of our customers, particularly in terms of safety, reliability and logistical flexibility.
Girardet adds, “This contract is the result of several years of close, cross-functional collaboration between Sogestran Group, Compagnie Maritime Nantaise and Avio. I would like to warmly thank everyone involved for their commitment and contribution to this achievement.”
