The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Sunday that a vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz was struck by an unidentified munition.
In an online statement, UKMTO said the condition of the crew, the extent of damage to the vessel, and any potential environmental impact remain unknown.
The maritime authority added that an investigation into the incident is underway, while advising vessels operating in the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
Traffic through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz remains significantly below levels recorded before the start of the US-Iran war in February, amid ongoing security concerns and attacks involving commercial vessels in regional waters.
