Balenciaga Shipyard has celebrated the keel laying of the first of two offshore support tugs currently under construction at its shipyard in Zumaia, marking a significant milestone in the yard’s ongoing shipbuilding programme.
The ceremony highlights the progress achieved since SAFEEN Drydocks acquired the shipyard, a move that has revitalised operations by strengthening production capabilities, supporting workforce development, and boosting the local maritime supply chain.
Now operating as part of Noatum Maritime, SAFEEN Drydocks is leveraging Balenciaga Shipyard’s long-standing expertise in specialised vessel construction to deliver advanced offshore support tugs for customers serving the offshore and renewable energy industries.
