Arkas Line has announced the arrival of Saskia A at Safaga Port, marking the first-ever call by a container vessel in the port’s history. The milestone represents a significant step in the development of Egypt’s maritime sector and reinforces Arkas Egypt’s growing presence across the country’s key maritime gateways.
The inaugural container vessel call positions Safaga Port as an emerging logistics gateway for regional and international trade, reflecting Egypt’s ongoing efforts to modernize its port infrastructure and strengthen supply chain connectivity.
Arkas Egypt described the achievement as an important milestone in the company’s continued expansion within Egypt’s strategic ports. The company expressed its appreciation to H.E. Kamel Al Wazir, Minister of Transport, for his support in facilitating the historic call. It also thanked the Ports Security Sector of the Egyptian Ministry of Interior, the General Authority for Red Sea Ports, the Egyptian Customs Authority, and AD Ports Group for their cooperation and contributions to the successful operation.
During the maiden call, Arkas Egypt provided full port agency services for the vessel, with its operations team coordinating all aspects of the ship’s arrival, berthing, and departure to ensure the call was completed with high operational efficiency.
The landmark call is expected to support Safaga Port’s development as a key maritime hub on the Red Sea, attract additional international shipping services, strengthen regional and global supply chains, and enhance the competitiveness of Egypt’s ports.
