Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT), the preferred gateway to Jordan, the Levant, and beyond, achieved a second consecutive monthly record in August 2026, handling more than 104,000 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) across 58 vessel calls. This marks the second time in three months that the terminal has surpassed the 100,000 TEU threshold, following July's record of 101,900 TEUs, and underscores ACT's sustained operational momentum amid ongoing regional trade disruption.
August also extended the terminal's strong run of transit (transshipment) performance, now in its third consecutive month, with transit volumes reaching more than 20,000 TEUs for the month — over 10,000 TEUs of which were destined for Iraq, reaffirming ACT's growing role as a regional logistics hub connecting Jordan to the wider Levant market.
Local import cargo also showed a solid recovery during the month, climbing back to 36,000 TEUs, while truck gate activity reached a new high of more than 43,000 visits, including over 35,000 import delivery transactions reflecting the terminal's capacity to sustain high-volume operations without compromising service levels for customers and supply-chain partners.
ACT credited the month's performance to close coordination with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), the Ministry of Transport, and other key partners, whose collaboration helped reduce yard density and maintain continuity of vessel and truck flow throughout August.
