38-year old Captain died during voyage, Panama refused to accept body

Captain of general cargo ship CENTURY was reportedly, found dead in his cabin on May 19 or 18, while the ship was sailing off Central America coast in the Pacific, en route from Shanghai to Panama.

38-year old Captain was to sign-off in Panama and understood, to return to his home, Ukraine.

The ship arrived at Balboa anchorage on May 21, authorities were duly informed, but refused, nevertheless, to take Captain’s body and carry out formalities (most likely, out of covid fears).

CENTURY remained at anchor until around 0100 UTC May 25, when she started moving, and as of 0815 UTC, was transiting Canal. Her final destination is unknown.
