Hudong-Zhonghua delivers LNG-powered CMA CGM Amazonia
China’s Hudong-Zhonghua has delivered the 13,000-teu LNG-powered containership, CMA CGM Amazonia, to French shipping giant CMA CGM.
The delivery ceremony for the LNG dual-fuel vessel took place on Friday.
Earlier this month, CMA CGM Amazonia, completed its sea and gas trials.
This is the sixth and final 13,000-teu LNG-powered containership Hudong-Zhonghua built for French shipping giant CMA CGM.
In December last year, Hudong-Zhonghua delivered the first vessel in this batch, CMA CGM Bahia, and it recently handed over the fifth vessel, CMA CGM Belem.
All of the six vessels in this series will work on the South American route.
The shipbuilder and Jiangnan Shipyard won contracts to each build six LNG-powered ships for CMA CGM in April 2021, but the six vessels at Jiangnan have a capacity of 15,000 units.
Jiangnan recently delivered CMA CGM Big Sur, the fifth of six 15,000-teu LNG-powered containerships.
All of these LNG-powered vessels feature GTT’s Mark III containment system and WinGD’s dual-fuel propulsion.

The vessel’s LNG tanks have a capacity of 14,000 cbm.
CMA CGM is one of the world’s largest backers of LNG as fuel for vessels.
Last year, the company also ordered four more 23,000-teu LNG dual-fuel containerships at Hudong-Zhonghua.
Hudong-Zhonghua and Jiangnan previously built nine 23,000-teu LNG dual-fuel containerships for the French firm.
