Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) in Jordan recently recorded the billionth radiation scan within the global radiation detection! This remarkable achievement highlights the long-term cooperation between Jordan and the U.S. Department of Energy and the successful implementation and collaboration with ACT.

Feras Altaweil and Adnan El Yacoubi, on behalf of ACT, proudly received the plaque commemorating this effort from the U.S. Department of Energy. This recognition underscores ACT’s pivotal role in ensuring global nuclear and radiation safety and security.
Representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD) expressed their deep appreciation for their longstanding partnership with Jordan’s Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC). Together, they continue to prevent, detect, and respond to the illicit trafficking of nuclear and radioactive materials.
