UK politicians have followed in the path of their Australian counterparts in voting for a live animal export ban.

Parliament in London voted in favour of a bill banning the export of livestock for slaughter, and fattening for slaughter.

News from Canberra with the Australian government announcing it will ban the live export of sheep by sea from May 2028 following a series of disastrous headlines involving livestock carriers.

The livestock carrier fleet is among the oldest in merchant shipping with around 60% of the fleet more than 30 years old.

Many nations around the world have reexamined their laws regarding livestock shipments over the past few years after a string of exposés into the sector, showing some of the horrifying conditions onboard, have made the mainstream media.
