PGS issued early results in late March from its 6,175-sq-km EGY23 Merneith & Luxor multiclient survey offshore northern Egypt.

According to the company, this is the first 3D seismic data acquired over the deepwater area between the Nile delta and the Herodotus Basin, and it is a co-operation with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. (EGAS).

The barely explored and unlicensed area was previously covered solely by 2D seismic.
