The Saudi Ports Authority #Mawani, has signed a contract; to establish a logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port, with a total area of 54,000 square meters, to enhance sea and air connectivity; which will contribute in improving the logistics services provided, aiming to raise the Kingdom's ranking in international indicators.

The signing took place at Jeddah Islamic Port, by His Excellency the President of the Saudi Ports Authority ”Mawani”, Mr. Omar Hariri, and the Managing Director & CEO of "Saudi Logistics Services Company" #SAL, Mr. Faisal bin Saad bin Albedah.

This comes as part of Saudi Ports Authority 'Mawani" efforts to achieve its strategic objectives by developing and offering investment opportunities for the private sector, and developing sustainable capacities and solutions that suit the needs of partners; contributing to raising the level of local and regional transport, distribution and storage operations, creating economic and social added value; and increasing the number of logistics centers for re-export to 30 centers by 2030, in line with the targets of the Saudi National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services reinforcing the Kingdom's position as a global logistics center, and a hub connecting three continents.

This logistics park will contribute to raising the Kingdom's ranking in international indicators, and utilizing the Kingdom's strategic location, to connect regional and global markets, and benefit from the integration and interconnection between sea and air transport, in enhancing the Kingdom's leading position, supporting the global economic movement, and upgrading the standards of logistics services in the Kingdom, in addition to making Jeddah Islamic Port among the top 10 ports globally.

Also, the park will be built according to the latest environmental-friendly international specifications that will contribute to developing the logistics services at Jeddah Islamic Port, as it benefits from the port's capabilities and its developed infrastructure in enhancing its operations, in addition to the extensive structural reforms witnessed by the port, which have resulted in a major shift in the operational efficiency of the maritime sector, within the transport system and logistics services according to international indicators.

The list of features offered by the integrated logistics area include: main logistics services, and integrated environmental systems, including smart warehouses, yards for storing and distributing goods, and re-export zone; to offer regional sorting and distribution operations, and added value processes.

It is worth mentioning that Jeddah Islamic Port is the largest port on the Red Sea, and it ranks first in transit trade and container and cargo handling, and has won several awards including: "Port of the Year" award, and "Advanced Infrastructure" award, as part of the "Landmarks in logistics 2023" awards in the United Arab Emirates, as well as the "Best Port" award in 2022 as part of the International Green Shipping Summit Awards", in addition to achieving the eighth position globally, in the Container Ports Performance Index for 2021, issued by the World Bank, as a result of the excellence of operational performance, the development of its infrastructure, and its integrated logistics areas.
