Berth construction begins at Philippines' Manila International Container Terminal
Philippine port operator International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) is adding another berth to its Manila International Container Terminal (MICT).
The new berth, MICT’s eighth, is beyond the contractual commitments to the Philippine Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).
To be constructed in phases, the berth will add to MICT’s capability to service foreign ultra-large container vessels of up to 18,000 TEUs capacity. The new berth will create another 400 metres of quay along with 12 hectares of yard space that will bring an additional annual capacity of 200,000 TEUs.

ICTSI said that once the berth completed, MICT will have an annual capacity of 3.5 million TEUs. The full build will give the terminal a total berth length of 2,300 metres, or a 21 per cent increase in berthing capacity.
