Glander International Bunkering and Asyad Shipping announced a multi-fold agreement, signed this month by Carsten Ladekjær, CEO of Glander International Bunkering and Imad Said Al Khadouri, CCO of Asyad Shipping.

The signing ceremony symbolizes collaborative efforts between the two companies, and officially kickstarts three projects including an AI-based propulsion system, a digitalized bunker procurement solution, and comprehensive bunker management.

Key Account Manager of Glander International Bunkering, Dimitris Mertikas said, “We are especially pleased to work with Asyad Shipping in this pivotal move to drive sustainability, innovation and digitalization.”

He continues, “Fuel management is a critical component for any shipping company, which is why we are keen to help our clients optimize their voyages and set new benchmarks.”

This includes the integration of AI technology onboard Asyad Shipping’s fleet of VLCCs.

CEO Carsten Ladekjær said, “This AI initiative reduces a vessel’s fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, which drives sustainability efforts towards the Oman Vision 2040. It also aligns with the IMO target to reduce carbon emissions by up to 40% by 2030.”

The state-of-the-art, data-driven concept continuously monitors performance, utilizing algorithms to optimize fuel consumption and ensure efficient propulsion in varying conditions. This ultimately guarantees operational efficiency in addition to reducing emissions and cost.
