With the marine sector considered as one of the key economic growth drivers in the UAE and other countries across the GCC, sustainable marine transport solutions that address climate change have become an important component for success today in the sector. This is amidst calls from the international community to significantly cut the shipping sector’s contribution to global carbon emissions.

The development of sustainable power solutions can play an important role in driving down the carbon footprint of marine-based transportation such as yacht, boats, ferries, and similar transport, according to Al Masaood Power Division, which is one of Abu Dhabi’s leading business conglomerates.

As a leading expert in marine propulsion systems and power generation in the UAE, Al Masaood Power Division highlights that there are leading innovations in the industry that have been developed to enable the sector to sail through a net-zero carbon journey.

The ambition to navigate through a more sustainable marine transport system can be achieved with the support of the right technologies. Al Masaood Power Division has been working with industry leaders to bring these developments to the region and has been in collaboration with global partners such as Volvo Penta and MTU for several years now, which have brought cutting edge solutions in the marine engine and propulsion systems market.

The company is participating at the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) which started on March 9 to showcase the innovations that help power up leisure boats and ferries in a more energy-efficient manner. Featured at the event are the Volvo Penta’s intuitive Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) and a range of MTU systems including the Hybrid Propulsion System Solution, its new engine model 12V2000M96L, and its Bluevision New Generation Automation.

For instance, the advanced MTU Hybrid Propulsion System Solution particularly caters to yachts, workboats, ferries, and patrol boats with a power range extending from 1,000-4,000 kilowatts per powertrain. The company is further shedding light on hydrogen-powered marine technologies, dubbed as the ‘fuel of the future’.

Al Masaood Power will continue to engage with marine transport experts, leisure boat owners, and industry professionals at DIBS until March 13, 2022, at the Dubai Harbour. DIBS is the premier and most established boat show in the UAE, GCC and the Middle East, featuring a wide range of luxury yachts and superyachts, the latest diving and aquatic innovations and major eco-friendly innovations in the marine sector. It provides boaters and yacht owners with a platform to work towards a more sustainable boating experience by focusing on the quality of their propulsion engines and power generation technologies.
