Total has declared force majeure on the Mozambique LNG project, due to the security situation in the north of the country’s Cabo Delgado province.

The Total company has withdrawn all project personnel from the Afungi site. Total added that it hoped the actions conducted by the government and its regional and international partners would lead to a sustained restoration of security and stability in the province.
Mozambique LNG is a two-train project designed to harness 65 tcf of gas from deepwater fields in Area 1 in the offshore Rovuma basin.
