The Sharjah Maritime Transport Academy today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Sharaf Group to enhance maritime education and practical training and link academic outputs to the labor market needs in the maritime and logistics sectors in the UAE.
The memorandum was signed at the headquarters of the Sharaf Group in Dubai by Dr. Hashim Abdullah Bin Sarhan Al Zaabi, Director of the Sharjah Academy for Maritime Transport, and Sharaf Al Din Sharaf, Vice President of the Sharaf Group, reflecting the commitment of both parties to enhance integration between academic education, practical application, and labor market needs.
Dr. Hashem Al Zaabi emphasized that this partnership comes within the framework of the Academy’s keenness to provide qualified national cadres that keep pace with the requirements of the maritime sector and possess the necessary skills and practical knowledge to support the competitiveness of this vital sector in the country.
For his part, Sharaf noted that the memorandum of understanding with the Sharjah Maritime Academy reflects our long-term commitment to developing Emirati talent and enhancing national capabilities in the shipping and maritime sector by combining world-class maritime education with real job opportunities. He said: “We are working to create a sustainable path that enables Emirati talent to lead and shape the future of this vital sector.”
Under the memorandum of understanding, Sharaf Group will provide onboard practical maritime training opportunities for students of the Maritime Navigation Technology and Marine Engineering Technology programs at the Academy, in addition to field training opportunities in a number of sector-related fields including maritime logistics, port operations, supply chain management and maritime services.
The cooperation between the two sides extends to include corporate social responsibility initiatives, maritime awareness, sustainability, youth engagement, career guidance, and participation in specialized maritime conferences and events, which enhances community awareness and supports the sustainable development of the sector.
