Khimji Ramdas Shipping, in partnership with global wind logistics specialist Hareket, has successfully completed the full onshore logistics scope for Riyah 1 and Riyah 2, Oman’s first utility-scale wind energy project in Al Wusta Governorate.
The project encompassed port handling and coordination, vessel agency services, customs clearance, permit and escort management, and the transportation of wind turbine components from the Port of Duqm to the Nimr area.
A total of 36 wind turbine sets were transported over a distance of approximately 387 kilometers, including 90.2-meter blades, towers, nacelles, hubs, drivetrains, and other oversized components weighing up to 110 tonnes each. Overall, the operation handled 26,000 metric tonnes of cargo, totaling 303,000 cubic meters, across four vessel calls, with all components delivered safely and according to schedule.
The operation required detailed route surveys, precision engineering, tailored transport solutions, and close coordination to ensure the safe movement of oversized cargo without damage, delays, or sequencing issues. Khimji Ramdas Shipping leveraged its expertise in Oman’s customs procedures, road regulations, and permit requirements, while Hareket provided specialized guidance on blade transportation and sequencing to support the successful execution of the project.
The companies acknowledged the support of their clients, government authorities, and project partners, including OQ Alternative Energy and TotalEnergies, whose collaboration contributed to the successful delivery of what is described as the first project of its kind in Oman.
